Cynthia McFarlane, Equine Mediator & Barrister, was driven to combine her passion for horses with her passion for law. Having overcome the odds as a black female in a white male-dominated profession, she now faced the challenge of working as a black lawyer in the horse world where black people struggle to find acceptance with riding schools, racehorse stadiums and polo clubs to name just a few.
The purpose:
1) to encourage a black child or adult of any background who has a passion to ride horses or wants that freedom, to empower them and to give them a sense of belonging;
2) to build a conversation that leads to governing bodies making significant changes in the industry;
3) to provide a legacy for the next generation or family.
Cynthia McFarlane is a barrister, mediator and legal expert, who specialises in the equestrian sector.
Cynthia started The Dark Horse Equine Podcast in October 2020, with the aim of providing a platform for equestrian voices from all walks of life. We hope that these stories, viewpoints and ideas shared here help to inspire and empower you.
